What type of angel investor you?
Not all angel investors are made the same, nor do they approach angel investing in the same way…
Often, the stage you invest in a startup can determine the type of angel you are. Some angels invest when a startup is in it’s earliest form - perhaps a prototype and a plan, with little to show in revenues. They will get attractive deal terms (often with SEIS) for coming in very early - maximising their upside, and can end up playing a somewhat guiding role with the founder/founding team as the startup is yet to raise with more established investors.
Other angels wait to see a business that has started to show signals of real validation; often via growing revenues. The valuation will be higher, and they may have less involvement with the founder, but the deal is somewhat de-risked by the progress the startup has made.
