Film production startup announced as Kent winner of South East pitch competition

After hearing from a selection of startups, the Kent winner of the South East Startup Roadshow, hosted by South East Angels, has been announced: Nocturnal Pictures.

Nocturnal Pictures, is an independent film production company based in Kent, specialising in dark, high-concept, story-driven narratives within the action, horror, and Sci-Fi genres. Their debut feature film, "The Last Rite," has already made its mark on popular streaming platforms such as HULU, SKY, and Amazon Prime

Founders, investors, and key stakeholders from the startup ecosystem came together in Maidstone, Kent in June 2023 for the startup roadshow event as part of the South East Startup Roadshow event series. The events, ran by South East Angels aim to showcase local startups and champion the startup ecosystem around the South East. Roadshow locations include, Brighton, Maidstone, Southampton, Guildford and London.

Founders, investors, and others in the startup ecosystem came together to foster a vibrant environment that encourages growth and nurtures local early-stage startups. This event served as a platform for entrepreneurs to connect with potential investors, gain exposure, and receive valuable feedback to propel their ventures forward.

As one of the panel judges at the event, Jake Fox from South East Angels says:
“The calibre of pitches was really high, and it was great to see a variety of ideas being presented. Nocturnal Pictures delivered a  super compelling pitch that clearly communicated their focus, unique capability, and impressive traction. They are a real asset to the Kent startup community and larger UK creative industry.”

Winner of the pitch event, and Founder of Nocturnal Pictures, Leroy Kincaide says:
“Nocturnal Pictures was born out of a place of frustration where my love for acting took centre stage. Not getting the acting opportunities I desired I began with making my own short films to enable me to act in the roles I wanted.

Seven years on we have now produced four short films, one feature film released worldwide and also have a slate of over 5 movies in development ready to package and move forward with.

Nocturnal Pictures are actively looking for investors into their second horror movie, if this is something you are interested in finding out more about, please get in touch with Chloe Chudasama at chloe@nocturnalpictures.co.uk”
